As of IOS version 12.4(6)T Zone-based firewalls have been supported. This type of firewall works by
assigning interfaces to a specific zone. All interfaces which are assigned to the same zone are allowed to
talk to each other, but interfaces not in the same zone are by default dropped. If traffic is to be allowed
between zones this is done unidirectionally from one zone to the other. Configuration through SDM is
typically done through a wizard or through statically configuring the zones and zone pairs.
